Total Assault on the Culture - November 2024
When seeing the world through the windscreen of a van, like many things in life, you have to read the signs.....
“Our culture is a revolutionary culture, a revolutionary force on the planet, the seed of the new order that will come to flower with the disintegration and collapse of the obsolete social and economic forms which presently infest the earth.” - John Sinclair (Detroit Poet and former manager of MC5)
I’m in Groningen with Uncle Lucius at the end of their latest European Tour. I’m going back to UK next. I’ll post another update when I get my brain back… but for now here’s what I’ve got. If you have ordered anything from Iron Man Records I will post out all orders on my return. If you are an Iron Man Records Patron then feel free to put a request in for anything else you might be after and I’ll see what I can do. Here’s all the latest news so far, enjoy…..
Uncle Lucius Tour Dates - If you get a chance, listen to Uncle Lucius. They are a fantastic Americana band. They are going to go all the way.
Here’s a picture of them playing in Falkenburg, Sweden. And if you have never been to Falkenburg, this is the view outside the venue.
Uncle Lucius were joined by The Exile Club on the three UK dates. If you wondered what Joe and Neil from Curse of Lono did next….have a good listen to The Exile Club. Here’s a video to give you an idea…
The Exile Club - Closing Bell (Official Music Video)
In other news…Join notorious and Midland Chamber Orchestra for a special performance of the Duruflé Requiem – a profoundly beautiful ethereal piece – in the atmospheric setting of St Mary’s Acocks Green.
Duruflé Requiem
Saturday 30th November 2024, 7:30pm
St Mary’s Church, Acocks Green. St Mary’s Close, B27 6QX
Composed in 1947 in memory of his father who died during the Second World War, the work is uniquely personal and reflective. Subtle rhythms and fluid lines of Gregorian chant permeate the whole piece, and the piece, and the result is a sublime musical expression of mourning and consolation.
The rich orchestration will be brought to life by Midland Chamber Orchestra, who will also perform an elegant classical programme – from the stately and elegant dance suite of the Pavane and Choconne by Purcell, to the dleivarte and lyrical Sicilienne by Fauré.
Mulled wine an mince pies will be available to purchase during the interval.
Here’s the Malmo Bridge on the return from Sweden.
