Total Assault on the Culture February 2023

ironmanrecords.substack.com

Once a month, there’s a special day on Bandcamp — Bandcamp Friday. On these days, the online music platform waives its share of profits, meaning that artists and record labels keep 100% of the money made from sales. Today is Bandcamp Friday.

The day started as a way to support independent musicians and labels during the pandemic, but it has since grown to become an important part of the independent music industry. Artists, labels, and fans alike look forward to Bandcamp Fridays with great enthusiasm.

For artists, it’s a chance to reach new fans and make some extra money in the process. They can offer special deals and discounts, or just promote their music to the wider public. For labels, it’s an opportunity to showcase their roster, and to show their appreciation for the fans who have supported them over the years.

For fans, it’s a chance to show their support for their favorite artists and labels, and to discover new music. It’s a great way to find new music, and to support the independent music industry as a whole.

On Bandcamp Fridays, the music community comes together to celebrate, to discover, and to support independent music. It’s a day that celebrates the artistry of independent music, and the spirit of collaboration that makes it possible.

If you want to buy anything from Iron Man Records, today would be a good day to do it. https://ironmanrecords.bandcamp.com/

Whoever controls the internet servers, controls the intellectual record of humankind. And by controlling the intellectual record of humankind, you control our perceptions of who we are. When all music is digital, all independence will cease. Iron Man Records would like to release all new music on Vinyl.

"The primary goal of government propaganda is to undermine our faith in everything. Not just our belief in particular stories in the news, but our trust in the people who are telling the stories, the platforms, and fact-based reality itself."- Douglas Rushkoff

As music listening habits have changed, so too has everything in the marketplace. Income streams that once supported musicians and all those involved, have become increasingly difficult to access and maintain. Making new music is expensive, and some artists can wait 20 years to get any return on their work. Some never see any return at all. Please support the cause.

Musicians face brutal working conditions. The cost of living crisis, the ongoing impact of a global Pandemic, and Brexit all threaten the future of independent music making. Recent research from Help Musicians confirms that 9 out of ten musicians are worried about being able to afford food to eat, and more than 80% are concerned about paying their bills, rent or mortgage. Close to half of all professional musicians think they may be forced to leave the industry altogether. Musicians desperately need a broad range of support to help them navigate the financial, career-building and mental health challenges they currently face.

Iron Man Records works hard to give music, and the musicians who make it, a value. A little financial help from you, and others, could make a big difference at a critical time. By supporting Iron Man Records as a Patron you will help the record label to continue to release new music.

Imagine what else could be achieved if everyone who reads this signed up as a Patron and gave just £1 a month? Read more here

In other news, most of the Patreon Tiers now offer a FREE Trial. If you want to join in and find out what it's all about, now is the time.

Music will find a way. United we stand. We have to make the world we want to live in. Try to stay positive and there's good things ahead. All we have to do now is find the others to share with. https://www.patreon.com/ironmanrecords
