Nightingales UK Tour Dates 2025
Consistently excellent, the Nightingales are as ferociously sardonic as ever
The Prefects, Birmingham's original punk band, gained recognition by participating in The Clash's 'White Riot Tour', recording sessions for John Peel, and releasing a 45 on Rough Trade. After their split in 1979, some members formed The Nightingales, noted for their shifting lineup and cult status in the early '80s, led by lyricist Robert Lloyd. Celebrated by John Peel, the band produced critically acclaimed singles and albums, touring extensively in the UK and Northern Europe.
The Nightingales disbanded in the late '80s but regrouped in 2004, eventually stabilizing their lineup. Since then, they have released numerous singles, EPs, and albums, operating independently without management. They began a partnership with Tiny Global Productions in 2017, releasing the sold-out “Become Not Becoming” EP and the album “Perish The Thought.”
In 2019, they recorded “Four Against Fate,” which was released in May 2020 to high praise, although their tour was postponed due to the pandemic. The band also produced a documentary titled “King Rocker,” which premiered on Sky Arts and was well-received.
The Nightingales continued to release new music and remastered editions of their earlier works, culminating with their album “The Last Laugh” in October 2022. They plan to perform more shows and release additional material, while “King Rocker” continues its worldwide screenings.
